THE MINUCO ART SHOW 09 - THE ARTISTS

TALAR AGHBASHIAN
(1981, Beirut, Lebanon, lives and works in London)
My work is about the overlapping and the intersection of different narratives and thereby much of it concerns to the non linearity of time. I explore this through my paintings which initially are triggered from an archive of collected images; as if wanting to be evidence material. There might be split flying seconds of imagined narratives in the works giving rise to ever existing dualities and multiple facades of fiction and the real.

LUIS BUJALANCE   LUIS BUJALANCE
(1967, Malaga, Spain lives and works in Malaga, Spain)
In his latest works Luis tries to depict the essence of nature as a device for connection. This device is a pattern that Nature uses in many different ways (like veins, nerves or rivers) and that he uses as a symbol of oneness.

JONATHAN GOSLAN
(1966, Glasgow, lives and works in London)
His research into the infinite geometrical design space begins with simple forms (i.e. cubic) and basic deformations (replicating, twisting, etc.); repeatedly, one finds remarkably seductive and perplexing objects from a few humble ingredients. In the Artist's own words: "We are just at the beginning of a new age in fabulous form-making with computers and designers about to blow our minds with their new methods and software which is based on organic, chaotic and complex rules. I am inexorably drawn to this new dawn, however, let us contemplate the austerity and mystery of the hexahedron a little longer... "

ROB LOGAN   ROB LOGAN
(1980 Birmingham UK, lives and works in London)
His practice has developed through an interest in phenomenology, perception, and psychoanalysis in relation to his work production, and how it is viewed. He produces works which are part improvised using techniques similar to frottage: a practice made famous by surrealist artists which relies on our subconscious desire to visually connect fragments and mentally categorise or analogise what we see. He was the 2008 winner of the Cecil Collins Memorial Award.

THERESIA LYNCH
(1970, Solna, Sweden, lives and works in London)
Theresia Lynch derives her imagery from her own photographs, paintings and old magazine clippings: images are internalized and reformulated layer by layer into photo-collages replete with an ambiguous atmosphere of melancholy and suppressed violence.

NORIKO MATSUBARA   NORIKO MATSUBARA
(Hachinohe, Japan, lives and works in London)
She completed an MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London in 2008. Her current work focuses on issues raised by the nuclear industry and conveys a contradictory human existence within the conflict between nature, culture, technology, politics and economy.

SAMUEL STABLER
(1984, Atlanta, Georgia, lives and works in London)
His recent work is the product of what he calls obsessive mark making techniques. All of his works begin with line drawings, where the images have been drawn on top of one another to the point of abstraction. The drawings are further developed using a highly repetitive process of cutting paper with a blade, allowing him to manipulate the positive and negative spaces, further controlling the line between the real and the abstract. . This labor intensive process allows him to overcome anxieties towards the artwork and to actively involve himself with his ideas.

  MINUCO WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
The Minuco Art Show has been organised, curated and sponsored by Minuco, a multi disciplined (free-range and corn-fed..) Website Design and Graphic Design agency based in London, with offices in both Sydney and Cape Town. At Minuco we believe in the importance of always striving to be creative and we try to be imaginative and original (when necessary) in all aspects of our business. It is this belief together with the enjoyment of promoting and encouraging talent and enthusiasm that has driven us to organise our biennial events and exhibitions*.

This year's event, the "Art Show", brings together seven up-and-coming Artists of varying disciplines (sculpture, painting, printing, paper-cutting and even chalk-on-boarding), who have a broad range of styles. Minuco is very proud to be able to showcase the work of these seven, unique and talented artists at the Coningsby Gallery from the 19th to the 30th of January 2009.

Two years ago we put together the very first solo UK exhibition of the renowned German Pixel Artists, eBoy. eBoy's work has been seminal in influencing a generation of designers and artists; manipulating, stretching and twisting the limited possibilities of computer iconography to produce works of enormous detail, thought, originality and humor. Prior to the eBoy show we ran the Minuco Prize Photography Competition, which was open to all photographers (amateur and professional), which was mainly designed to encourage individuals who don't often get an opportunity to flex their creative muscles, to get out there and go mad and also to students who wished to submit their work to a competitive forum. We had work submitted by professional photographers, students, enthusiasts and even some of our clients. You'll be glad to know that the winner was neither a pro nor one of our clients. For more information about the show, or for information about our services contact Karin on 0207 692 2645 or email at karin@minuco.com

* all of these events are not-for-profit ventures; just a great excuse for a good doo!
